‘Junkspace’ is an experiment in creating web-based augmented textuality techniques using native features of HTML5. Taking a Rem Koolhaas essay — the hyperbolic diatribe ‘Junkspace’ (2001) — Javascript & HTML are used to overlay semantic relationships onto the text in an attempt to enhance the essay form through programmable web technology. The project was inspired by (typo)graphical techniques employed by book designers such as Lorraine Wild.
